The ease of learning Norwegian:
Lets start with the good news. Here is why Norwegian is relatively easier to learn compared to other languages:
Simple grammar: Norwegian grammar is straightforward: no noun cases, simple verb conjugation (no different forms for each subject), and fewer irregularities than languages like German or French.
One verb form per tense: Norwegian verbs don’t change based on the subject. For example, jeg går, du går, vi går. It’s always går for all pronouns in the present tense.
Consistent pronunciation: Norwegian spelling closely matches pronunciation, especially compared to English or French. Once you learn the sounds, you can usually pronounce words correctly.

The difficulties and challenges in learning Norwegian:
Now the bad news. Here is how learning Norwegian can be difficult of challenging especially compared to other languages:
Tonal language (Pitch accent): Norwegian has two different pitch accents (tone 1 and tone 2) that can change the meaning of a word, even if the spelling is the same. Like bønder (farmers) vs. bønner (beans).
False friends and lookalikes: Some Norwegian words look like English or German words but mean something different. For example, eventyr means “fairy tale,” not “adventure.”
Two written standards: There are two official written forms: Bokmål and Nynorsk. Most learners focus on Bokmål (as are our sheets), but exposure to Nynorsk is unavoidable in media, signs, and education.
Word order: While generally similar to English, Norwegian uses V2 word order (verb in second position), which can cause confusion in questions, subordinate clauses, or adverbial sentences.
